Weather

Clear skies, light wind. Lower areas were warm (15 degrees over the pass) but much colder on the ridge. Our group’s assessment was close to 0F

Snowpack

Highly variable snowpack. Sheltered trees held about 1.5’ powdery snow through near treeline. Above treeline in the bowl the snow was variable in thickness and composition. Ranged from wind slabs in deposited areas to fully faceted thin snowpack in wind blown areas. While skinning to the ridge multiple whumpfs were heard and shooting cracks were observed. Photo shows one of these small shooting cracks.
