weak, commonly unsupportive snowpack, with considerable whoomphing and collapsing where it was locally supportive. travel difficult, except in old consolidated ski and snowshoe tracks. no shooting cracks seen. boot pen- full depth, ski pen 25-70 CM quick pit on flat area at 9600' to view general snowpack, 1.5 mi N of RE pass W summit HS75cm bottom 40 cm fist, loose facets; 40-55 1-finger layer; 55- surf fist loose storm snow no evidence of crusts or distinct planar interfaces. surface 2cm hoar crystals commonplace, melting on sunny aspects by noon. no tests, near flat location of pit
