Snowpack
2cm of new snow (20th Jan) is mixed with surface hoar (19th Jan, crystals up to 6mm) (3rd image) these sit atop an unsupportive meltfreeze crust (16th Jan) (First picture), which is 5mm thick. Below this the next 11cm is 4 finger rounds (1mm in size). A very indistinct crust separates this layer from the remained of the snow pack which is faceted (fist) with an average crystal size of 3-4mm (second picture).
