Weather

Variable cloud cover with some midday sunshine bookended by broken skies. Moderate to strong down valley winds with periods of moderate blowing snow.

Snowpack

Produced one crack that shot about 10' while hunting for instabilities below corniced ridgelines. Triggered a small windslab on a crossdrifted slope below the bench.

Avalanche

Good visibility of Climax, Schuylkill, Peeler Peak, and parts of Scarp Ridge and the Ruby Range. There were a couple of natural cornice falls that entrained loose snow (D1s) and a soft slab in Redwell Basin. I ski cut a small windslab about 12" thick on a crossdrifted slope in the Great Wide Open.
