Snowpack

I dug in three different westerly locations and probed across a large area of the slope. Snow depths varied in the near and below treeline band from about 70cm to 160cm and above treeline was mostly scoured clean. All pits had a similar structure but with varied depths. The reactive weak layer was 2mm facets that varied in depth from about 50 to 80cm below the surface. This layer failed with propagation in all pits. Below this layer was a pencil-hard slab and then a pop through to basal facets, which are starting to chain together and gain strength.
