We looked around in south sheltered near treeline terrain where average snow depth was 120cm. Numerous melt freeze crust/facet layers were noted , with a cluster of three or more combinations 50cm above the ground.Last weeks snow had settled to 15cm and the snow surface was moist by lunch. A stout (K) 3cm crust was present at the interface between last weeks storm snow and the old snow surface. This layer was producing CT7, ECTN7 and PST Arr 18/100 results, would expect it to become more reactive in ECT with a mire cohesive slab above. Warm temps may help bond this interface, but it's worth watching. Probing the area indicated this layer was present not isolated to this area. WE also observed CT3 and CT7 at the basal facets. It was difficult to perform ECT or PST on this layer due to the presence of mfc crusts. Columns were difficult it isolate well.
