A strong AST 2 crew skied some steep terrain is good snow in the Little Chamonix/Summit Creek area. We dug a test profile at 1400 on a west facing alpine morraine. 320cm of snow at this sight. No results of note in snowpack tests. Observed 2 size 2 Na wind slab avalanches on NE aspects that were more than 48hrs old. The bond between the storm snow and old, hard, layers formed during the drought is healing well in this area. So much so, that we felt comfortable pushing into large avalanche terrain. Weather started to deteriorate late in the day and wind was moderate to strong above 1700m. The sun felt warm today but not quite warm enough to impact the upper snowpack just yet.
