Surprise Pass

Great riding at surprise pass, although the snowpack was variable throughout the tour. We found numerous shallow sections on the traverse around fairview, with basel facets evident in a number of areas with consolidated snow on top - I don't think I'd be racing to do any yoyo laps on the back of fairview anytime soon. Further down the valley and on the descent the snowpack was much deeper and alot better, we didn't see any signs of any instabilities here.

Another cold day with light snow for most of the afternoon. Estimate 3-5cm of new snow this afternoon with light winds.
