Weather

Clear, chilly day. Not much wind in valley bottom, wind didn't look to be howling too much in the alpine either.

Snowpack

No slab at all below treeline. SE-E-NE below treeline, 15-30 cm of facets, decomposing MF crust at the ground, and new snow starting to facet on top. Near treeline, there was a little bit of slab, but it wouldn't hold together during snowpack tests. Mostly it was just deeper facets higher up. Started to get facet sluffing on steeper rolls, not serious, but its happening. Coverage looked remarkably consistent up high, the winds must have been fairly mellow. ECTX on SE aspect BTL, and 2xECTX on E aspect NTL.

Avalanche

No avalanches visible along Hwy 82 or near Independence.
