Hahn's Peak Lake Zone with overcast sky's with moderate snowfall throughout the tour, light winds out of the southwest at 9200ft, east facing slope.
Snowpack
What an impressive last three weeks it's been for snowpack in North Routt. Today we broke trail with boot top ski penetration and boot penetration right up to your hip. Large new cornices and rolls have been built across ridge features and open exposures since this past Monday. No whumpfing or shooting cracks were observed throughout the tour. We dug a profile on a 32 degree, east facing slope at 9200ft. Depth at 182cm, top 40cm was soft unconsolidated Storm snow (fist). At a depth of 140 to 110cm was 4finger in hardness. From a depth of 110 to 30cm was 1 finger in hardness and 4 finger+ down to the ground from there. Today CT tests on this slope suggested that recent storm loads are still settling but not reactive. ECT results indicated that slab potential is certainly present however results were inconsistent (ECTP 23 PC Q2 - ECTP 29 RP Q2).
