Sunny and clear Tuesday following windy and stormy Monday

On Tuesday, 3/5/13, multiple new natural avalanches were observed from the Aspen Highlands ski area. This followed the heavy winds (~60 mph) and exceptional transport event of Monday. New naturals included: -NE/E aspects in South Highland bowl (photo from Davenport noted in an earlier obs report); -N and W aspects below treeline on Ski Hayden. -NW/W aspects in the Midnight Mine area off the Aspen Mountain ski area. -Multiples, E and NE aspects, off the Sievers Ridge (across Maroon Ck from Highlands ski area). -Highlands Patrol, according to a patroller I spoke with, also triggered a large slide in west-facing "Smithereens," a sub-path of Loge Bowl. The approx. 3-foot crown directly abuts the snow fence on the Highlands ridge near the "No Banks Shots," sign just below the top of the Loge Peak lift; it ran near the ground in the depth hoar/facets and went an undetermined distance.
