Weather
This is an observation for Wednesday, December 4, 2013. Weather on this day started with light snow from arrival to the top of Berthoud Pass at 9am up until 230pm when snowfall diminished. Sky was overcast all day up until 230pm when at that time, the sun started to peak through. Winds were calm during our entire trip at Berthoud Pass, below and above treeline.
Snowpack
We observed new snow ranging from 20-24". We had skied exclusively in the Floral Park area during the morning and early afternoon while experiencing great soft snow conditions. In this area, the new snow was sluffing at times but we did not witness any avalanche warning signs such as whoomping, shooting cracks, or slabs releasing. We did however, witness settling while skinning through the day.
