Beautiful warm spring day. Strong sun and warm temperatures.
Snowpack
Today, temperatures warmed quickly. On sunny slopes the top 5-10 cms of the snowpack became wet by early morning under the strong spring sun. The snowpack was unsupportive to boot penetration in shallow areas, near and above treeline, on sunny slopes by mid-morning. In a small shady above treeline north-facing couloir the snow was winterlike. Small wind-drifted pockets of snow were triggered on a ski cut, but were not harmful. The most notable observed skier-triggered and natural Wet avalanche activity today was on north and east facing slopes above treeline in the afternoon in the Silver couloir and on Peak 1.
