Snowpack

Dug a hasty pit in Baxter Basin, below Daisy Pass. HS of 175cm. Facets on the ground 60cm deep. Hard slab from 60cm to 160cm, with Monday's soft snow atop that with a 5cm wind crust for the surface snow. At 40cm from the surface there was a very consistent and clean break when prying with a shovel. Can't say for sure what the weak interface is, maybe thin sun crust?. Didn't perform any column tests, just seeing what layers were out there. At 2pm the snow surface was not wet on this aspect and absolutely was a winter pack, though anything southerly was quite wet on the surface.
