Weather
The morning was mostly blustery and clear with some clouds hanging near the the summits. Winds started low but picked up through the morning with gusts near 30mph above treeline
Snowpack
Inside the chute (NE aspect ~ 11500 ft elevation) the snow was generally ~12" of varying density wind slab and dense powder (4f) on top of a hard frozen bed surface
Avalanche
The entrance to chute was breakable wind slab that easily broke but did not propagate. At the choke we anticipated to kick off a slab and gave a few ski cuts. The slab broke a few turns lower then expected but the skier was able to exit to a safe zone. Crown depth was ~12"
