We skied Cleveland yesterday, approaching from the southern trench (pull out a little ways down from the summit). Yesterday was sunny, warm and windless through most of the day, though cloud cover increased and dropped the temps later in the afternoon. Small amounts of snow were peeling off east-facing rocks near valley bottom at 10:30. The snow was soft and perfect early and stiffened over the course of the day. The riding was great, and we skied 20-30cms ranging from perfect blower to settled and somewhat sun affected on steep slopes. The final 20 metres or so of vert before the summit was just beginning to form into a bit of a wind slab, but it wasn't hard or hollow; that was the only slab we encountered underfoot. The cornice is getting pretty fat and snow is shedding off rocks on solar aspects right to the top. On the ride out, the snow got progressively grabbier as we lost elevation with it being quite so as we got into and down through the trench. I'd bet there was a pretty solid sun crust on much of it this morning. East-facing rocks in the trench had shed significant quantities of wet snow by the end of the day.
