Beautiful blue bird day in the McGregors. Went up across creek drainage from the farm trail. Only a couple inches on top of crust in valley bottom, but improved quickly above around 1300m with ~30cm ski penetration. No signs of instability on the way up until around 1500m, where we started noticing much more wind affect and some shooting cracks in the open trees. We opted to stay in the trees all the way down and boy was it good!
