11,700', NW, Putney Forest: light winds SW-NW, overcast skies, snowing S1-S2. HN while we were out was 4cm, starting around 2:30pm.
Snowpack
11,700', NW, Putney Forest. New snow was 20-25cm deep, overlying a variety of surfaces, from ground, to crusts, to 50cm wind slabs. Cracking and whoomphing was widespread and propagating 100-200'
Avalanche
Numerous skier triggered D1, very touchy, mostly on NW aspects TL and BTL, because that's what we were on! Running either just above the ground on large (3mm) facets, or on a crust just above those facets.
