Sunny, 45 degrees. West facing aspect 13,000' in near Star Peak

Extremely firm and crunchy surface; it was very difficult to get a decent purchase into the snow with crampons and/or ice axe. I had to really dig in the spikes going up the couloir of the west face to gain the ridge.
