The south faces seemed like a great option considering how cold it was on this day. The approach to the Reno couloir is very short and we could get back to our car very quickly if we needed to so its a great option for a very cold day. Two axes and crampons will help a lot in this line because there is a rock/ice step to enter the couloir. The snow at the bottom was very firm and nothing was moving. When we came around the first bend, the snow started to improve for skiing conditions but also felt very supportive. After the middle section we saw some debris which indicated the line had cleaned itself out maybe a few days earlier. We ended up turning around 100 meters from the top because we found a weak layer that seemed really unsupportive and we didnt want to get on top of it.
