85cms at treeline in the Torpy Mountain area as of Sunday, Nov. 14th. 45cms fell since last weekend. A strong SW wind was transporting a lot of snow even below ridgetop. Skiing had an 'upside down' down feel into the trees and below 1500m the coverage tapered down quickly making things spicy. The bottom half of the snowpack was a thick crust from the previous rain and warm temps. This crust disappears somewhere below 1400m due to the absence of snow a week ago. The upper snowpack was bonded well to the crust in sheltered areas. We did not see any avalanches, but in the poor visibility we were careful about unintentionally entering steep convexities where we felt wind slabs were likely. Lots of sluffing in steep trees.
