We were north of Sparwood today. With freezing levels of 2300 m we expected a spike in avalanche activity so planned a mellow day and a rescue practice (some rope rescue). In our location the moderate winds were keeping the alpine and treeline snow cool even though it was 2 degrees. The sun just didn't make it out from behind the broken cloud cover this afternoon either. Below treeline the warm temps had more of an effect, and some snowballing and small wet point release were seen.
