Weather

Cold and calm. Intermittent cloud cover throughout the day. When clouds obscured the sun, it felt like a very chilly mid-winter day. Sunshine made it feel comfortable and solar radiation was strong when there were no clouds.

Snowpack

Below about 10,500 ft in elevation the snowpack is very thin and primarily consists of snow that fell over the last week resting on bare ground. Treacherous travel below this elevation. Snowpack depth gets markedly deeper above 10,500ft, where October snow was not washed away by rain.

Avalanche

Small slow-moving loose sluffs shedding of the rain crust about 30 cm deep.
