Snowpack

Dug in the open meadow around 11500, NE aspect, 25 deg. 80 cm total depth, new snow overlying a wind-affected slab progressing from fist hard to finger hard down to about 20cm off the ground. Below that faceting, 1-2mm size at the ground, smaller above. Snowpack seems to be weakening. No evidence of a melt-freeze crust near the ground. Witnessed buried surface hoar in protected areas below tree line.
