I recorded 3" new snow at study plot. Strong winds at ridge top from west-southwest for the previous 12 hours.

Snowpack

Recent wind slab and cornice formation above tree line at and below the ridge top.

Avalanche

Star Mountain avalanche paths B, C and D near CO 82/Independence Pass. Above tree line, east aspects. The avalanches occurred either the night of 2/7 or the morning of 2/8. Star B ran to the creek on the valley floor, C and D ran to mid track.
