Snowpack

Last weeks storm (4/4-4/5) left 4-6" in the corridor that fell on varying strengths of melt-freeze crusts near and below treeline on aspects without a northerly tilt. The old interfaces were embedded with a seemingly continuous layer of dust at the onset of storm #29 which came in with very strong winds. Today's bump in temperatures and nearly clear skies by ~11am gave way to a handful of point releases on predominantly west/southwest aspects near and below treeline. The avalanche activity above the highway appeared to have enough volume to push D2 class but did not gouge or step into deeper layers. Easterly aspects at lower elevations appeared unaffected by todays warm-up yet a somewhat stubborn cloud cover before noon may have had a hand in keeping surfaces glued together for now.
