22* @ McClure Pass TH @ 100 pm Toured on S - E - N slopes, 8800' - 10400' Clear, Calm
Snowpack
On N - E shaded slopes any remnants of the Xmas slab have largely faceted out - even in highly probable wind-effected areas. In some areas the entire spx was faceted (80 - 100 cm). Ski quality was fast and exceptional. On sunny slopes there was a mixed bag of facet / crusts with ski pen never getting much above 15cm. Surface snow was moist on all but the flattest / shaded terrain. Did get a few small collapses while meadow crossing at ~9800'. SH was prevalent on all aspects toured above 9500' (see picture) and present as of 330 pm. Unless wind increases ahead of tonight's storm I wouldn't be surprised to see some of this survive. Regardless, any increase in load will be sitting over weak / persistent snow.
