Weather

Overcast, light to moderate winds from the N with light snow. Air temp of -8 (C) in field measurement at 9,500ft at 9:30am.

Snowpack

At 10,500 on a NE aspect HS of 134cm, 30 to 40cm of new snow. Found well preserved 7mm surface hoar at a height of 73cm, this proved to be reactive in compression test.

Avalanche

Saw crown line on Malamute near summit on NE aspect, and crown line near ridge on K- chutes reported yesterday. Both of these look as if they ran yesterday. Talked with a group coming out of Opa's hut who saw avalanche debris in the creek from the second and third paths off Ashcroft Mountain going up Express Creek. The same group also reported a wide avalanche on a NE facing gladed slope in Little Italian Basin.
