Snowpack

Skied a brushy W slope up in Lenado today from approx 9000 feet to 9600 feet above silver creek. HS was averaging 40 cm with the more recent storm snow feeling fairly clumpy and dense to the ski and a little crust facet combo near the base. Brush was sticking up through the snow everywhere and any slabiness felt discontinuous and ski penetration was often down toward the ground. I had isolated cracking in the slab component on kick turns and such. No whoomfs or shooting cracks - this slope felt low hazard to me. I also skied a short little N facing pillowy line above the parking area to no higher than approx 9400 feet. The slab supported my skinning for the most part and I had isolated cracking around the ski again but no whoomfs or shooting cracks. The snowpack felt potentially more dangerous on this aspect.
