Snowpack

dug a pit just under 10,000 feet elevation, southwest aspect. total snow depth 120cm. two suncrust layers 18" and 14" below snow surface. no results from ECT, snowpack seemed surprisingly well bonded and i could not get any layers to fracture in the test pit. other than the two, one inch thick crusts, the entire snowpack was 4 finger cohesively bonded snow. minimal depth hoar at ground. at lower elevation snowpack is much weaker and shallower. seemed that at about 8500' snowpack reached two feet in settled depth and began to look solid.
