Snowpack

Very variable, very shallow. General snowpack structure consists of depth hoar, overlaid by and old hard slab (1F to P) and softer snow on top though this top layer is harder in wind exposed areas. We were able to produce a couple of significant collapses propagating 30-100ft on fairly slopes around 30dgr; the failure layer was below the old hard slab in the depth hoar. We noticed several recent small slides, all partially refilled (the depth hoar layer is still there).
