Snowpack
Very mild temperatures creating moist snow at the surface on all aspects I traveled on today up to about 10,800 ft. A few rollers observed on steep southerly aspects well below treeline. 15 cm of settled storm snow in the upper snowpack from storms early this week. Light southwest winds on my tour today but I could hear stronger winds above treeline. Obscured skies and whiteout conditions above 11,000 prevented much travel at higher elevations. Travel below treeline was on west, southwest, and some south aspects. In this drainage, overall snowpack depths are still shallow, averaging about 80cm. Near the trailhead, snow depths were closer to 50 cm. Experienced some minor cracking in the new storm snow layer. Occasional moderate collapses would occur on all aspects.
