Snowpack
We could see a fairly large slide out today just south of Beaver Creek on the corniced ridge above the ski area. We’re looking from Vail with Binoculars and checked elevations and aspect with Google Earth. It started just under the cornice at 11,900’ ran full track and about 500 vertical. This is a ¾ mile long cornice and the slide looks to be about 200+ yards across, R2D2.5 is my estimate. Probably released in the past day after strong winds. Also a report of an avalanche today in King tut’s in Generation X bowl (East Vail Chutes). This was a cornice failure and the guys we sent to check it out thought it was skier triggered but no one caught in it. R2D2.
