Couple quick laps out in the 8/8A area this afternoon. Gusty southwest winds transporting and depositing snow in the alpine. Recent storm snow skied well on the runs with minimal wind affect. Dug a quick pit near the top of 8A - obs are in the snowpack tab. As noted in other reports, a number of wind slab released were observed in Cabin Bowl. No activity noted in Morning bowl or along the east side of Hut Ridge.

Snowpack

CTM2 @ 25 cm from surface on surface hoar that was potentially buried during the Dec 31/Jan 1 storm event. December 6th rain crust observed ~70 cms from surface. Additional whacks from the shoulder produced an uneven break 50 cms from the surface. No results on the rain crust interface. Prying with the shovel eventually produced a planar fracture on the lower crust/facet interface.
