Warm temperatures, particularly on lower elevations causing roller balls and loose wet slides on all aspects
Snowpack
Following the most recent storm, we finally have something akin to a midseason snowpack. Snow depth is generally around 150cm, and the weak layers formed earlier in the season are progressively becoming more buried and less reactive. In wind-loaded areas, a wind slab has formed on top of the storm snow, which does appear to be reactive. However, these wind-loaded areas appear to be fairly isolated. The ambient temperature was fairly warm today, and the snowpack is being affected with widespread roller balls and small wet loose slides on all aspects below treeline. The good news is that I would expect this wet snow to bond well with the warm incoming storm snow this evening.
