On N facing aspects we found dry powder (10-20cm) on top of the very hard crust above 1400m. Rode the gulley off of Gin Peak and that was pretty nice. Skied down to Hanging Lake from the ridge below Gin and that also skied well (if a bit wet as it was later in the day). The skin up through the forest was pretty icy in the morning but doable without crampons. Skiing down was "survival skiing", though certainly doable if not necessarily enjoyable.
