Weather

9.5" of new snow in Leadville. 7" measured near Fremont Pass. Winds were increasing out of the northwest in the afternoon.

Snowpack

New snow was not cohesive and did not have any slab-like characteristics. Near treeline ridges, with some light drifting, small slabs were starting to form. On east and southeast-facing slope the new snow sits on a crust. The crust was pretty fragile on the east-facing slope. A shovel shear test showed easy results below the crust.
