Was skinning up onthe NW shoulder of vantage. As we started out of a patch of trees across a more open slope we saw a few cracks. I was in the lead and asked my partner to stay back and for us to go one at a time. Two steps after I'd said this, the slope started sliding. I was able to turn downhill and ski back towards the trees and wasn't swept away. My ski partner was about 5m behind me and was carried about 10m downhill and was also able to get back into the trees without losing his footing. The slide ran down around 250m. There was no audible woomphing before the slide, although the slope was in the lee of the wind, so was probably more heavily loaded with recent storm snow than others we'd skied over on the Motel 66 side near the hut earlier in the day. We then elected to ski down, and set off another slide on the same reactive layer about 250m further down the slope. The final photo in the report shows the two crown lines. The second slide started as we started to ski down, and it was slow moving enough that I was able to out run it downhill as I saw the cracks forming. The slope had a safe low angle run out where I was able to find refuge in the trees.
