it rained in the night of the 12th to the 13th so it formed a crust of 2cm. it then snowed sleet on the 13th (1mm) which turned into surface hoar (feathers about 5 to 8 mm). on sunny slopes in high altitude (more than 1500m) the surface hoar melted. on the 13th there were heavy winds that tunneled through the valley and lots of trees fell down. at the rec site at least 12 trees fell down and blocked the access to motorized vehicules.

on a 30cmx30cm colone. the first fracture occured after ~20 of hard taps at 30cm from the surface. it was a layer of hoar (we're not sure which type) of about 2cm. we could put our finger througt it. the second fracture occured at 60cm from the surface. It was a layer of surface hoar of about 8mm. the two fractures made a very neat slip plan. we saw: 30cm deep : hoar layer 2cm big 40cm deep: hoar layer 1,5cm big 60cm deep: hoar layer 0,8cm big 65cm deep: ice layer (very hard) we did the test on a slope about 30 degrees.
