Weather
Strong winds gusting Extreme along the ridgeline with Moderate to Intense snow transport onto easterly slopes above the treeline. Broken sky with a strange amount of sunlight in the Ashcroft area for a good part of the afternoon. On and off snow (S-1) after noon.
Snowpack
Below 10,000 feet the new snow settled from 8cm this morning to 0-2cm this afternoon. Above 10,000 feet there was 10-15cm of new snow at a density of 85kg/m^3. Snow surfaces near treeline were moist by 1:00 PM and Wet to Very Wet below the treeline by 2:00 PM. There is a prominent dust/dirt layer below the new snow with a homogenous snowpack consisting of Melt-Forms down to the ground on all aspects and elevations I covered below the dust layer. The new snow was not bonding well to the old snow interface/dust layer yet.
Avalanche
Observed an old Wet Slab likely from the past week.
