Weather
Unsettled. Bouts of strong and downright punishnigly hot sun. Then snow squalls. At low elevations, 9k it hovered around 32 all day. Up high, 11k, it probably snowed another 4 inches today.
Snowpack
New storm snow came in wet and wild, however, in our observation, it bonded well to the old snow interface, mainly north, northeast aspects. About 18inches of fresh up high, 10.7k. still pretty wet, but right side up. Down low at 9k, the new snow was only 4inches deep and super sloppy. OF NOTE: at like 1pm there was a bout of intense graupel, accumulated about 0.5inches. this could pose problems as our active weather continues.
Avalanche
Kicked off a small storm slab, broke maybe 10 feet wide, slid down about 5 feet, and was only 5 inches deep. D1 would be generous, more like D0.5. All in very wet saturated storm snow at about 9.8k feet. North facing. Slope angle, 40 degrees. Saw a few wet loose slides coming off south facing rocks at low elevations.
