Snowpack
Heavy, wet top 18"-24" from 1/17 storm, 3.5' total depth, 105cm. Our column failed on 14th tap (elbows) approx 30cm from the ground with 70cm on top.
Avalanche
We heard/experienced 2 "whumpff"s on flat terrain, 1st 50' from the top of our route. While retreating to <30 degree angled nearby slope with trees we got a second, even larger "whumpf" with the whole flat ridge we were on visibly settling. No cracking.
