Snowpack
Areas with continuous and deep enough coverage for slab avalanches look few and far between. Below about 11,500 feet I found a very thin and patchy snow pack. Only heavily shaded terrain features hold a multi-layered snowpack. Most open, sun-exposed slopes are bare or only covered by a very thin faceted crust.
Where I found areas with continuous snow cover, the snowpack is a very weak and poor set-up once slabs build. Below the most recent storm snow, a faceting crusts sits above exceptionally weak Depth Hoar grains.
