We had a fun but cold sunny day exploring a few zones on the west side of the highway. Started at the out house parking lot and travelled by snow machine through the notch in hopes of riding the Feather Back Bowl (North Glacier). Once we got there we noticed significant cross loading on and below the ramp halfway up the bowl. We remotely triggered a 1-1.5 slab on the lower bench below the ramp. There is definitely some major potential in there for a much larger slide to occur if one does not stay all the way lookers left when climbing to the saddle. The descision was made not to attempt riding Feather that day. We got out of there shortly after playing around in the flats on our sleds. We experienced extremely variable snow conditions while traveling from nice boot deep powder over top of the last rain crust all the way to no snow with blades of grass showing. The wind transport was widespread almost resembling fog from a distance in many places. Lots of settling and woumphing even low in the valley bottoms above tree line where we were traveling. Shooting cracks like spider webs were observed from all of our machines while riding over the wind slabs forming in the valley bottoms. We had lots of fun trying to body check mini cornices and see how far we could make small drifts propagate. All in all we travelled quite conservatively and had a nice day enjoying the scenery since skiing was pretty much a write off.
