Weather
Sunny skies, cold temperatures, and moderate northwest winds. Snow plumes visible off highest peaks but winds were not moving snow onto leeward slopes around 12,000 feet.
Snowpack
A couple inches of low-density snow accumulated overnight. This has added up to about 6 inches of new snow in the last few of days. We observed good bonding in recent storm layers and at the new/ old interface on west, northwest and north aspects up to 12,000 feet. There was hardly any evidence of drifting near treeline and fresh storm slabs were mostly F to 4F. No cracking or collapsing. Slopes that see direct sunshine, the new snow sits above a breakable melt-freeze crust. New snow did not sluff with ski pressure above the crust or on steeper north-facing treed slopes.
