The road in is long and bumpy but there's a powder reward at the end for those willing to put the miles in to get to Wolverine! The day was sunny but cold; -17C driving up this morning and midday temperatures still at -9C in the shade at 1450m. That being said the sun packed a punch and we suspect it may have been responsible for some cornice falls and small avalanches on sunny slopes today. There was 10cm of new snow from overnight which helped refresh things a bit. We found the weak layer of mid-February facets down 45 on a shallow snowpack west facing slope, but when we dug a little higher up on an east facing slope with over 3 meters of total snow, we couldn't find any weak layers at all. We didn't reach high elevations or the alpine today so couldn't speak much to what the snow was like up there, but we figured the best riding was in the trees and so was the lowest avalanche hazard.
