Spent the day in Elkford, There was evidence of avalanche activity up to size 3.5 that looked to be 24 - 48 hours old. When the sun started to get warmer we saw a natural size 3.5 that was triggered by sun. These large avalanches remind us to that conservative decision making is essential when travelling in avalanche terrain. Cornices have grown and winds have crossloaded features, remember to consider natural avalanche triggers like sun, windloading and cornice falls.
