Warm and partly cloudy. Winds were on the increase in the morning, reaching moderate at pass level by midday.
Snowpack
The sun-exposed paths on Molas and Coal Bank passes were bare ground. Shadier paths like the Champion group, West Lime and Coal Creek, had 2-4" of 1-2mm facets with an intermittent fragile crust. West Lime still has so much surface roughness that avalanches to the road are unlikely. Snow depth increased heading north of Silverton. The HS at the Red Mountain Pass weather plot was 6". South-facing paths like the Eagle group almost completely snow free. Continuous coverage in the Brooklyns was limited to the bottoms of the gullies, with a thin and patchy snowpack in open areas. Coverage in Blue Point is deepest on the looker's left half of the path. Blue Willow and the right side of Blue Point are thin and patchy with a lot of ground roughness. The snowpack on Red Mountain Pass was similar to Coal Bank, facets with an intermittent, fragile crust.
