Weather
Partly cloudy at 10Am. It felt very warm at the snow surface with some greenhouse effect. Clouds started building around 11AM, and skies became mostly cloudy to overcast by 12:30Pm with S-1 flurries.
Snowpack
Still a lot of snow left above 11,000 feet. Surface freeze was weak, and boot pen was to boot top by 11:30AM. Average height of snow on south and west-facing slopes was 175cm. The snowpack is moist or wet throughout, but still retains structure. The most notable interface is a stout melt-freeze crust about 60cm deep with lot of moist snow above it. Below this is a ~50cm P hard slab resting on moist old larger faceted grains to the ground. Snow became unsupportable (even on skis) and punchy below 12,000 feet by 12:30 PM.
Avalanche
Decent size Loose Wet avalanche off the north side of Green Mountain.
