There’s 50 - 80cm of snow in the Tally Ho meadows (open treeline terrain). 10cm of heavy powder covers a 10-20cm thick breakable crust with sugary facets below. It’s challenging riding off trail. The alpine has been scoured by the winds but some slopes are still fat and wind loaded. We saw evidence of a natural avalanche cycle up to 1 week old on wind loaded slopes (size 2.5 -3). Some ran full path. Avalanche debris from this cycle was deposited onto access roads (skookum peak). It was another warm day with temps from -2c to +2c. The south winds ramped up through the day with snow transport at ridge top. The winds were howling with lots of blowing snow as we drove back to Fraser in the afternoon.
